She's Coloring!!

Well, she's picking up a crayon and scribbling a little bit! First time ever! The teachers at LDC are very pleased with her progress. (For more info on Laney's school, visit www.ldckids.com). She's been participating in "Teacher Time" pretty well, allowing them to do some hand over hand activities with her (stacking blocks, sorting pegs, etc.) They even say she's been doing a little side-by-side play with other children.

Today, my mom was working with her at lunch and trying to get her to use her spoon. Typically, she'll take the spoon out of the bowl, take a bite, then put it down and use her fingers. With a little coaxing today, she took a few scoops of yogurt on her own.

Her occupational therapist (Marie) was really pleased with her session today. She pointing at a few objects in a book (she doesn't point), hit a musical drum flat-handed (Laney keeps her hands in loose fists), allowed Marie to turn her upside down (Laney really doesn't like motion) and did a few scribbles with a crayon. What a great day!

Aidan is set to start preschool in the afternoons next week. (We've been taking his nap away this week. Results? So-so.) It will be good for him to have something that's "just his", as he's seen Laney getting therapy (to play with toys) and now go to school. We are really trying to give him the attention he needs, but confess, it's hard with Laney's needs being so high. We pray for God to make up for our deficiencies.
