Despite the challenges that toddlers bring (and one with special needs), they bring such joy. Aidan is becoming so animated and funny. He loves knock-knock jokes. Can't get enough of them. He is also developing quite an imagination, always making up stories with his train set. When we see a real train, he gets so excited. I don't mind having to wait at a train crossing anymore. He really helps me gain perspective.
Laney's smile is enough to make anyone melt. It's a joy to see her learning to communicate and acquire new skills. She's becoming better at listening and is responding to our requests more consistently. Her eating habits are still a challenge (she's a carb lover). She is learning to use a regular cup ... even requested some water today in her sippy cup without the top on it. She kind of choked a little on the first sip (came at her too fast), but she quickly got the hang of it. Tonight, I asked her to spell her name out with letter from a puzzle. She did it no problem. She is so smart.
Our church is in the beginning process of starting some type of special needs ministry. We attended a meeting on Monday night with other parents. It was a great opportunity to meet some other people at church, but also to meet those who truly know the struggles of a special needs child. It will be good to have others to talk to, to be encouraged by and to pray for.
Winter has been fairly mild here this year, making our adjustment back to Indiana a little easier. Aidan has been disappointed we haven't have much snow. Can't believe it's March already ... where does the time go?
Cracking up!
